ADPD – The Green Party is a green, progressive political party in Malta, formed in 2020 from the merger of Alternattiva Demokratika and the Democratic Party. It campaigns on environmental protection, social justice and political reform.

  • End 'persons of trust' practice in public administration

    Governance

    The practice of appointing 'persons of trust' in public administration should cease, except for private secretariats of ministries.

  • Require MPs to declare the assets of their spouse

    Transparency

    In the declaration of assets, Members of Parliament and cabinet members must include the assets of their spouse, especially where community of acquests applies, to prevent the hiding of wealth.

  • Recognise subsidiarity as a constitutional principle

    Institutional Reform

    Subsidiarity should be recognised as one of the essential foundations of the republic, serving as a constitutional guideline for the country's public administration.

  • Provide long-term mental health care in regional community centres

    Health

    Long-term mental health care should be provided in regional centres, similar to those already operating in Qormi, Paola, and Floriana. This allows patients to remain close to their relatives and within their community.

  • Accelerate the integration of mental health care into Mater Dei hospital

    Health

    Accelerate the process of integrating mental health care into a new facility at Mater Dei Hospital. This will provide patients with modern care and help reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness.

  • Increase the public sector work release scheme for voluntary work

    Voluntary Organisations

    The Work Release scheme for public sector employees should be increased, allowing an employee to work with a voluntary organisation for one day a week without losing their regular job.
