Biography
Dr. Alex Borg was born on 10 June 1995 in Rabat (Victoria), Gozo. He is a lawyer by profession and was first elected to the Maltese Parliament in 2022 with the highest number of votes among the Party’s candidates, after the then-Leader. He served for three years as Shadow Minister for Gozo and sat on both the Gozo and Foreign Affairs Parliamentary Committees. Dr. Borg was raised in Nadur and studied at the Bishop’s Conservatory, the Gozo College, and at Sir M.A. Refalo Sixth Form. In 2019, he graduated in Law and began practising as a lawyer. That same year, he was elected to the Executive of the Moviment Żgħażagħ Partit Nazzjonalista (MŻPN – the Party’s Youth Wing), and shortly after, to the Executive Committee of the Party. He strongly believes in a contact-based style of politics and that politicians must remain close to the people at all times. Politically, he describes himself as supporting a strong, competitive economy while also believing in robust social services such as free healthcare and education. In June 2025, following the resignation announcement of the Party’s then-Leader Dr. Bernard Grech, Dr. Borg expressed his interest in the role and contested the election for Party Leader. He was elected Leader of the Party on 6 September 2025 and took the oath as Leader of the Opposition four days later, on 10 September.

View source€300 Smartwatch Scheme To Reward Young People For Staying Active | Fit4Life Grant
HealthThe Nationalist Party has proposed a €300 grant for smartwatches aimed at young people aged between 15 and 25, as part of a new initiative called Fit4Life. The initiative is intended to encourage physical activity, including walking, training and sport, as a preventive measure against obesity, inactivity and avoidable illnesses. Under the proposal, the smartwatch would be linked to a voucher scheme. Participants who meet activity targets would be able to redeem vouchers for sports equipment, gym memberships, fitness classes and other health-related activities. The party said the scheme would be voluntary and focused on incentives rather than monitoring. It also stated that any data collected would be used in a limited and transparent way, in line with data protection rules.
